14 days (13 nights) Delhi - Bharatpur - Agra – Panna – Nainital – Corbett - Delhi
This tour is ideal for birdwatchers who want to see a diversity of India’s wildlife. Highlights include birding in amazing scenery in the foothills of the Himalayas, guided tours around the world-renowned Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, visits to two tiger reserves and the Taj Mahal.
Bird species likely to be seen: sarus crane, red junglefowl, Kalij pheasant, bar-headed geese, Indian grey hornbill, crested kingfisher, plum-headed parakeet & dusky eagle owl. Other animals likely to be seen: Bengal tiger, nilgai (blue bull), Indian elephant, jungle cat, chital, Indian python, wild boar, rhesus macaque & Hanuman langur
Day 1: Arrive Delhi Overnight at Hotel Sunstar (dependent on arrival time). Day 2: Delhi - Bharatpur Taxi to Bharatpur (approx. 4 hrs). Stay 2 nights at Hotel Sunbird, 100m from Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary. Birdwatch for the rest of the day. (B) (L) (D)

Day 6 & 7: Panna 6 am jeep drive at Panna National Park in search of tiger. Evening jeep drive at Panna NP to look for tiger and other wildlife. (B) (L) (D) Day 8: Panna – Agra – Nainital Morning sight-seeing at Khajuraho. Drive to Jhansi to catch the train at 1600 hours. Arrive Agra 2000 hrs. Board train to Lal Kuan (railhead for Nainital) at 2320 hours. Overnight in an air-conditioned sleeper. (B) (D Agra train) Day 9: Pangot (Nainital) Arrive Lal Kuan station at 0830 hours and transfer to Nainital (approx.3hrs) through the Himalayan roads. Arrive at Jungle Lore Birding Lodge, Pangot. Rest of day bird-watching at China Peak or Kilbury, to see the panoramic Himalayan views or go boating on Naini lake. (B) (L) (D) Day 10: Pangot Day of birdwatching and relaxation. One can opt for short treks or hikes in the oak & rhododendron forest or more time to explore Snow View and China Peak areas. (B) (L) (D) |
Day 11: Pangot-Corbett NP Morning drive (approx 3hrs) to Corbett NP. Afternoon tiger tracking in the park. 2 nights in a cottage at Tiger Camp, Corbett. (B) (D) (L) Day 12: Corbett NP Morning elephant ride through the jungle at Dikhala. The chance of seeing tiger is very good. Afternoon jeep safari elsewhere in Corbett NP. (B) (D) (L) Day 13: Corbett – Delhi After morning elephant safari drive back to Tiger Camp. Afternoon safari (optional) or nature walk. Taxi to Ramnagar to catch train back to Delhi at 2110 hours. (B) (L) Overnight train. Day 14: Delhi-onward journey Arrive old Delhi station at 0445 hours. Optional morning guided tour of old Delhi covering Red Fort, Jama Masjid, etc. Day room in your hotel till 1800 hours. Fly home. (B) |
Day 3: Bharatpur Explore this stunning wetland Bird Sanctuary with a guide for a full day (option of bikes, cycle rickshaw or on foot). (B) (L) (D) Day 4: Bharatpur-Agra A final morning in the Bird Sanctuary before heading to Agra, stopping enroute at Fatephur Sikri, then visiting the awe-inspiring Taj Mahal and Red Fort. Overnight in Hotel Deedar-e-Taj or similar (B) Day 5: Agra – Panna Morning train to Jhansi at 0815 hours. Arrive Jhansi in the afternoon. You will be met and transferred to Panna ( approx. 4 hours). Overnight in Panna Tiger Resort. (B in train) (D) Day 5: Agra – Panna Morning train to Jhansi at 0815 hours. Arrive Jhansi in the afternoon.
